Jane has spent many years exploring the impact of collaborative movement and non-verbal embodied listening for people in recovery from complex traumatic stress and the incredible impact both have on regulating breathing biomechanics. Jane is immensely experienced in trauma and movement and has taken a Buteyko course. You’ll also walk away with an understanding of how traumatic stress impacts the function of the diaphragm.
Jane walks us through what we now identify as the bio-psycho-social model and how our systems interact with our environment. This can be as much, if not more through our tissues than our consciousness – diaphragm to vagus nerve and many more. Such interactions lead our brain/body partnership to set up a ‘windows of tolerance’ through which our subconscious can pre-empt reactions. This can set up habits of perception or behavior that we may not even be aware of.
Jane has us do exercises, so that we can have a practical experience of what she means and the work she does.
